The Pursuit of Happiness

Last night I ventured to Milwaukee with a few friends to see the Brewers play one more time this season. It was a decent game, other than the fact that they lost, but our seats were awesome. Apparently we got on television last night, which is crazy awesome, but none of us are going to let the fame get to our heads.

Let’s get serious though. God wants us to have fun. This is what I saw last night as I went crazy every time the Brew Crew got a hit. God loves to see us happy, and that’s why He gives us opportunities like the game last night.

When we’re having fun, we forget about the stresses of this world. Sometimes though, during my enjoyment, I forget to praise God for allowing me to be with my friends. It’s really easy to be with God when I need Him, but when I’m having fun, sometimes I feel like I gave this gift to myself and so I should enjoy it accordingly. Our God has just as big a part in the good times as He does encouraging us in the bad.

So today, I praise You, Lord, for giving me a chance to have fun. I thank You that I can spend quality time with great friends, and I thank You for Your extreme love for us. Bless us all on this day, and help us to focus on You at all times, especially during the good ones.

A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?  To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness. Ecclesiastes 2:24-26a
