Our culture thrives on staying busy all the time. With so much homework and studying I need to get done, what incentive is there to simply stop and ponder the question “why am I doing this”? The truth is, we need to be able to slow down and take a look into our lives to truly understand God’s plan for us.
I have a strong aversion about living life like a robot, but it becomes easy to do it that way because I don’t have to worry about messing things up. Is it really living though, if I don’t trust God and take a risk? Complacency is something that happens to us all, and I strongly believe that it is one of the biggest reasons we lose sight of our Father.
The way that I deal with complacency is simply prayer. I talk to God about it, and He shows me how stagnant I’ve been. It hurts me to realize that if I’m not moving on the path to God, I’m moving away from Him. But comprehending this fact and asking God for help is the only way to come back into a relationship with Him.
I need to define what I mean by taking a risk. In our daily lives, God presents us with many opportunities to share our faith with others. Whether or not we take the opportunity is the risk. We need to stop fearing the things of this world. Do I really think that embarrassment and rejection will discourage my relationship with God? I shouldn’t, but the world tells us the opposite. I can tell you that from lots of experience, having a deep faith conversation are one of the greatest things there is. Being able to share my story and hear others stories is a recharging experience that strengthens my relationship with God as well as others.
So today, if you’re seeing things as an ‘A to B’ life, realize that God has bigger plans for you. He will wait for you as you find yourself and make your way back into His loving arms. Take the risk, it’s one less thing you’ll have to regret, and you’ll be so much stronger in your faith for taking your Heavenly calling.
Not that I have already obtained all this [righteousness], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers [and sisters], I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14
